Modern Landfill Management
Whitford landfill is a registered Class 1, modern engineered landfill that is fully contained. As Auckland’s waste breaks down within it, we capture the landfill gas produced, convert it to electricity, and export this to the national grid. This process generates enough renewable energy to power approximately 5,000 homes, turning your waste into a valuable resource. All liquids within the site are captured and treated onsite, ensuring no environmental contamination.
